Tuscany Holiday Cottage May 2017
We (2 adults & 2 kids; 4 & 7) stayed at this property during May half-term and weren’t disappointed at all. The house is perfectly positioned; an hour or so drive from Pisa through Tuscan hills and gorgeous towns & villages and sits high up on a hill with some of the best views I’ve ever seen. On a clear day and with the help of some binoculars you can even make out the leaning tower of Pisa. The house has a lovely rustic feel and is a good size with plenty of room downstairs with 3 good sized bedrooms upstairs plus, 2 bathrooms. It slept 4 easily and would have no problem getting another 2 in. Likewise there is ample space outside with a gorgeous pool area and a built in BBQ. If you’re looking for plenty of glass, marble and mirrors then this house isn’t for you but then probably neither is Tuscany. Whilst this house is open to rent it’s obvious the owners put their love in to it. The garden is well maintained with lots of lovely flowers, the pool area is immaculate and the house has everything you need with lots of the ‘basics’ in the kitchen making it far more homely and straightforward when it comes to shopping. The closest town – Lajatico – is where Andrea Bocelli is from and you can feel his influence locally and further afield. There are several other picturesque towns all within an hours drive and the beach is reachable too (also an hour or so) if you get bored of the pool. All in all, for us, this was a great spot for a lovely week away during half-term. The kids loved the pool, the food and wine is great without paying tourist prices and there was lots of places to go. Highly recommended.
