Directions to Casa Colomba from Pisa Airport
This is not the way the sat nav takes you but we think this is the best route.
|0||Leave airport – dir. Firenze (this takes you straight onto the FI-PI-LI; a dual carriageway, so called as it joins Firenze, Pisa and Livorno). You follow the FI-PI-LI, ensuring you take the Firenze branch after 18km, where it forks. If you want to stock up at a large supper market on your way take the turning for Navacchio.|
|26||Take the exit named “Uscita Pontederra”, which comes shortly after a short tunnel (called “Romito”). Ensure you do not take the first exit for Pontederra, named “Uscita Ponsacco”.|
|26.5||Exit takes you onto a large roundabout, often adorned with sculpture. Take road marked for Volterra; you will need to go almost all the way round the roundabout. Follow this road for 13km to Peccioli, passing La Cava, Ponsacco, Treggiaia and Forcoli.|
|40||When you arrive at Peccioli, turn right towards La Rosa, the road passes some useful shops at this point, particularly the Co-op supermarket for groceries.|
|42||At T-junction turn left. Follow this road for 6 km to la Sterza.Go all the way round the roundabout .|
|48||Turn right following sign for Orciatico (8 km); this will take you through the village of Laiatico (3 km) and road signs will indicate the way to Orciatico at each junction.|
|54||3 km past Laiatico take right turn (sign to Orciatico).|
|56||Once in the village, turn right in the tiny square, next to the shop called Ortigiana (delicatessen).|
|57||Follow this steep street up past first left turn and some public parking on both sides of the road and take left turn up hill indicated “Mulini di Vento”.|
|Follow this road up the hill, past one right and two left hand side roads/tracks. The house is accessed via a rough made track; the green metal gate is marked “Casa Colomba”. There is enough room on the driveway for three cars.|
